A Tribute to Gigi Shanes-Hernandez November 14, 1956 - April 9, 2009
Our dearest, long-time friend, Gigi Shanes-Hernandez, passed away on April 9, 2009 from pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest cancers. This page is dedicated to her memory.
Gigi was only 52 years young, but maintained a positive attitude to the very end of her precious life. Her mantra was "Be Positive". Gigi was brave and did everything she could to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer. Gigi lost her battle after 11 months. Pancreatic cancer is the nation's fourth leading cause of cancer deaths.
Gigi was an amazing person who enjoyed and loved life. She was an advocate for the underdog and made a significant impact on many lives. Gigi spent her last few months educating others about this dreadful cancer in order to move them to action. Today, family and friends continue to raise awareness and funds to fight pancreatic cancer so that others do not have to suffer.
